ICS
Tactical radio frequencies.
IC has command and use of main channel to communicate with dispatch, and tac channels to use on scene for different sectors.
Here in South Australia our trunked radio system also known as the SAGRN has set talkgroups so when ever a brigade is paged they have 4 minutes to get down the station and acknowledge the page or be defaulted
An example of how we have allocated talkgroups
" Adelaide Fire Kalangadoo 34 talkgroup 232..... Kalangadoo 34 Adelaide Fire send.....acknowledge page for forest fire and responding... Roger Kalangadoo 34 Adelaide Fire out"
Then after we have established contact with Adelaide Fire we change over to our primary and establish contact with the local comms centre
" Wattle Range Base Kalangadoo 34 talkgroup 231.....Send Kalangadoo 34.....Wattle Range Base we are responding to the forest fire with a crew of 5....Message recieved Kalangadoo 34 Wattle Range Base standing by"
After initial contact is made with base all further radio traffic during the duration of the incident is either done on the operational talkgroup or via VHF radio
See if your locality has a radio course and TAKE IT. In my department you can't even get near the radio until you've been county certified in radio policies and procedures.
