I really want to be a firefighter. It's a reoccuring dream of mine. I am trying to get a lot of info on it right now though. I am pretty damn determined as well.
Okay, question.
How hard is it to get into?
How long is the training course and how expensive?
What do FF's do when not saving lives and putting out fire?
Does size matter that much? ( I only ask this one because I am 5'7 and 117 pounds)
Ummm, if you can think of anything else, please let me know, I'm very curious.
Ummm, I just got out of high school, working on G.E.D, currently no college as I just moved. In San Diego. Don't get me wrong, I am fairly intelligent.

If this is what you really want go for it. I come from a small paid department (115 men). We have one female, she is about your size and a better firefighter than some of our men. Be prepared for the kidding and pranks that go on during the down time.
Follow your dreams, good luck.
Paramedic courses at the local CC are 44 units total. That's not including some of the pre-reqs. So it is a major time commitment. If you are going to stay in San Diego, remember this a highly urbanized, not a lot of volunteer FDs around.
That is good you seem to be a determan person
That is a lot of hours. Haha, yeah, really urbanized. XD
As far as I know, to be hired as a full time fire fighter in San Diego you need to be a paramedic as well. Unless you're looking to relocate, becoming a paramedic is going to be the longest and possibly the hardest goal you'll need to accomplish. I'd start looking into your EMT-B and paramedic school first, it can be pricey and it takes a couple of years all together. In the mean time you can get your training done with the local volunteer fire department. Keep in mind that it's a competative field (at least for cities in the northeast it is) and you'll have to have a whole lot of training and at least a few years experience before they hire you.
Good luck! awesome to see more females getting into this career.
