Hello everyone! I'm just getting started with the whole fire career thing. I have been an engineering consultant for some time and have just gotten tired of the job. I've always had a thing for fire/rescue... be it watching "Rescue 911" as a kid, going to the local fire hall to hang out on the trucks, or just being a good samaritan and helping out when I can in emergencies.
I'm currently taking classes towards a fire science degree (on top of my mechanical engineering) and am anxiously waiting to hear back about some training to get my FFI&II certs.
I live in a small unincorporated suburb of Knoxville, TN and have become both a financial supporter and a soon-to-be active volunteer for our local VFD.
My ultimate goal is to become a Firefighter/Paramedic instructor (my specialty in my engineering business was training).
Welcome to the family! I'm not active at this time but I was a vol in Greenbrier (North of Nash) for 3 years. Loved every minute of it! Hope to return in the near future but will continue to support all the brothers and sisters stayin' low and stayin' safe.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I really appreciate it.
And yeah, TN is a very beautiful state. Our community is located just at the foothills to the Great Smokey Mountains and offers awesome views of the range and easy access to the national park.
