MILWAUKEE (AP) — The body of a homeowner was found in a Milwaukee house days after firefighters extinguished a fire at the Riverwest residence.

Firefighters found no one in the house after fighting the blaze May 13. The mother of the homeowner, Mary Freundl, filed a missing person report. Police investigating that report discovered a body in Freundl's house three days later. Friends and neighbors say it's the body of the 48-year-old school speech therapist. Authorities have not confirmed that.

Neighbor Matt LaBorde tells WISN-TV that it was torture for Freundl's mother who didn't know where her daughter was for three days.

This is a very unfortunate incident, but this is why we search. I am not knocking the Fire Department involved, but I will use this as a training topic for me and my guys as well as at the next fire we get.
