Howdy all...  Just joined FFN this weekend; signed on with the local VFD 6 months ago and ended my probation period this past week.  Absolutely LOVING the job so far - wondering why I didn't do this years ago (and the answer is I used to sing in a barbershop chorus that practiced on Monday nights - the same night that the FD held their weekly practices.  Life got in the way and I had to drop the chorus, and when time opened up again, I joined the FD)

Been lurking on the site for a while, ever since my Assistant Chief mentioned watching a video on here.  Looking forward to gaining knowledge from all of the experienced FF's on here and becoming part of the community!

Welcome aboard. Just joined this site myself. Been in the fire service for 11 years and have loved it. I also love sites like this were you can pick up alot of new tips and see how other departments deal with call's. Stay safe and take every training class you can. And 5 years down the road don't be afraid to retake classes because you will find things change fast in this world.

hello nice to meet you....i like this site a lot of informative...

I'm definitely in the "information sponge" stage - every training opportunity that presents itself, heck every opportunity to gear up at all, I'm on it.  Our department has a minimum training standard set per year - I came within 2.5 hours of meeting that standard in four months.  Trying to figure out my schedule as to which fire schools I can make it to this year - and loving every minute of it.
