Have you ever had to fight off feelings of acrophobia when fighting fire or rescuing victims in high rise buildings, water tanks, towers, Etc. that were several hundred to a thouand feet or more in elevation?

I'm not a fan of heights but I love rappeling, I don't like climbing the aerial but I do it every shift for a quick workout. All those feelings go away when I'm at a scene, I guess its the adrenaline pumping that helps to block out those feelings. I do rescue work on the side out at the plants and we have to work out of massive tanks and towers, climbing up there and just hanging out doing a standyby sucks, its just not the same without my heart pumping
"High Rise"...that's anything outside the reach of a 24-foot extension ladder, right?
We had a "drill" at work...I am also on the Fire Brigade and confined space team there (never get enough LOL) well we decided to go up the water tower for some" High rise" training......Damn that thing is up there....one guy froze about 1/2 way up and we had no idea how we were going to get him down.....finally got to him and tied him off and brought him down slowly....but again.....Damn it was up there....LOL Not my most sought after experience but as my Chief once told me...."Son, you ain't got to like it, you just got to do it."
