I am currently looking to join a volunteer department that is also a full time paid dept. Ive been told that this is an excellent way to get my foot in the door. My question is what does everyone else think. I like to get as much info as i can get before making a decision. Are departments like this usually good with working around full time schedules? Do they tell you this is what you have to work, or do they ask about your work schedule, and work around that. I know all departments are different, I was just looking for personal experience from other Individuals who have experienced this. I am also in school for EMT which is also required for most departments around here. I am on a volunteer dept. right now. The one I am looking at pulls shifts. Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Walt

just an added note i am already FF2 certified for IL. so i do have a little experience
