I have a fire helmet thats about 10 years old and I was wondering if you guys think it is still usable. The crash pad is still good and there are ear flaps and all. The front emblem is just smashed up.
Jean-Luc, Sorry, but there are very many rude and ignorant Americans. I will appologise for him. I like your helmets, they are funtional and very cool. You go in more fires in a month than the FF that calls your helmet goofy goes on in a year. Be safe Brother.
they are a rather unique peice if ppe, and i must admit when i first seen one, i did not have a taste for it. how ever i had a chance to see one in person, and try it on. very comfortable and if i was allowed by my department i would use one. i love the traditional look our helmets have, but i can see the advantages these have.
Nice looking gear you folks have there, on all sides of the pond. Personally, I'm a leatherhead and always will be. One thing I don't fully understand is the "salty" look some of you seem to crave. Yeah, it definitely looks like the lid and whoever was wearing it saw some action but back in my day we always cleaned off the grunge and grime and tried to keep our gear looking clean. Some stains you can't get out/off so you either live with it or buy new. Melted Bourkes? What good are they if you can't use them? To each his own and that's what makes the world go 'round.
