Ok. My station is trying to finish up our ISO certification & I have a question. Im sure my chief knows the answer but Im tryin to learn as much as I can on my own so that I dont become too dependent on him. We have a double stage pump on our engine. What is the procedure for testing the pump. Today I took our truck to the county training grounds and hose tested all 1200 + ft of hose. That was fun. By the way we only lost one section of hose. Thanks for yalls help.

My recommendation is to have a third party do the pump test. An NFPA pump test is a fairly involved operation especially with a two stage pump. Our single stage pumps take about an hour, each. With a two stage pump, you can add another 30 minutes. Unless one of the larger city departments do their own pump tests, are willing and have the time to do them for you, Check with other departments to find out who they use.
NFPA 1911 is same pump test for single stage as two stage. Do your volume test in single first, do your 75% test in volume, then 50% in pressure. Banner Fire Equipment located in the midwest (outside of St. Louis) has a mobile pump testing trailer, shoot me an email if you have any questions: mvieth@bannerfire.com . I am EVT certified in pumps.
