We us mintor 4 pagers. A fire department not too far uses radios to page. Does anyone use either of these or something different to page out. And how well does it seem to work for you. Our pagers work fairly well but the 4s dont seem to be holding up as well as we would like and are trying to figure out if there is anything better.
Thanks
We have our own radio dispatch and we get toned over our radio. Every member has a portable radio issued, some bought their own. Before we had our own dispatch we were on the county dispatch system and the tone out feature was an absolute necessity to be able to get some sleep and not have to listen to every other departments' calls.
Since we have our own dispatch I usually leave the radio on monitor and never turn it to tone alert (tone alert keeps the radio silent until it recognizes a special tone and then it opens it up for listen). Our dispatch also sends text messages to our cellphones with address and map information. This system seems to work pretty good.
Since the county switched over to a new trunking radio system by Motorola we got new portable units that can do trunking for county channels and still has our dispatch on it.
our company uses a combo of minitor 3's 4's and 5's and our officers have portable radios and i have personally used the 4's and 5's and also have a portable but the 5's weve been having nothing but trouble with em.
we use Minitors and the line officers have portable radios .We share frequencies with other FD's but , you get to learn your own companies tones when they drop.We also use alpha pages. I have however, known of other Fd's that have used cell phones to dispatch.Especially after a certain time at night.
we have minitor 3 pagers we are slowly upgraden to 5 but i want to keep mine minitor 3. some of the guys at my dept. dont carry their pagers and just care their radios i carry both with me
We use minitor V's and all of our members have been issued a motorola HT 1000. We have reissued some of our minitor III & IV's because of problems with the V's.
My department uses Minitor 3's, 4's, and 5's for the FF's and radios for the officers. Only because our officers are allowed to respond directly to the scene if they wish.
how does your department sign up for the texting message to the cell phone when your called out i have seen it and want to bring it to our department but they want more info on it
