My department doesn't even consider giving pagers and/or badges to ANY member until they have reached the Kentucky 150 HR. (IFSAC FFI) certification. Some members are lucky they even get issued a T-shirt to wear during functions such as drills, etc.
For the people that live out of town we have a select few pagers we give out. But no badges we have like name identification that we show fire police when we get to the scene so we can gain acces.
My fire department gave me a pager and badge the week after i joined but i need one because i live far from the station, but i have not missed any calls i could respond to. Be careful if you have them tho if they are broken they cost up to 400 dollars
We Dont Use Pagers
