I have HAZMAT awareness currently.....
Have taken Hazmat Ops/HAZWOPER in the past.....but these have since expired.

Does anyone know how i can get Hazmat Operations certificate if i am not currently on a fire department?

I was hoping there was a way to do it, but cant find one.

Specifically in Michigan

Any help is appreciated ....thanks!!

Thats a good question, you might want to check with your local fire department and find out when they'll be offering the next class and see if they'll let you in on it or guide you in the right direction.
Yeah, the local fire departments only offer training to those on the department......hence my problem.....im basically looking to find a way to get the training on my own....but there doesnt seem to be a "civilian" option out there yet that i can find.
Heres a solution, JOIN! LOL....I thought state certs never expired???
without the proper refresher training (i.e. dept training) the certificates do expire. The same goes for Technician and awareness.
In Cleveland, Cleveland States University teaches them to anyone that needs them. That being said, check the local colleges. If they have a fire program, not fire science, they should have them or know where to send you. Michigan State Police Academy is a huge hazmat training center.
awesome...thanks for the help...
as far as the "join" comment....hee hee....i would if i could...but at this point is not an option..
Im actually looking to obtain Operations level for a possible fire job down the road.

and yes........HAZMAT certificates do expire as Engineco913 said......
