It is gone now thank you web chief . I wish when you make a forum you would think is it appropriate for this site . If i wanted to see naked women i would be on bigones.com or something of that sort . When i am here i don't want to see that . I love this site keep it respectable . What are your thoughts ?

Damon,

First, I believe that Dave is plenty capable of policing FFN, since it's his job as the WebChief.
Secondly, there are a lot of objectionable links that are posted by web bots, which means that no human put them there or will read or respond to your post.
Third, when you post "What are your thoughts?" do you really expect anyone to post that it should be OK to post links to porn sites, racial/religious/ethnic slurs, or pro-terrorist sites?

There has been a very small amount of objectionable, offensive, or inappropriate content over the entire FFN web life.
Most of that content has come from a very small number of people who then complain when a more serious group of firefighters and/or medics calls them on it. Your post takes a lot of people to task for something that they didn't do, would never do, and would never support. It would have probably been better to just let it slide, especially when Dave had already taken care of it.
My thoughts are:

Before starting a discussion, use the search feature to see if the topic has been covered before. This would have saved a few hundered thousand web-miles on the multiple "lights" discussions and others.

It would also be nice if the discussion were germane to the fire or EMS service. We could discuss "ants on an ice cream cone lying in the grass" which isn't lewd or risque but also doesn't pertain to emergency services.

Finally, I warned the cretin who posted that stuff that he would be booted if he didn't delete the posts. He didn't; he's gone. He probably didn't use the search feature before posting; small potatoes, really, considering the content.
I have to agree with you Damon and it is really sad that someone thought it was appropriate to do that. Web Chief did a good job of getting rid of the thing. There are young people on here that should never be exposed to that foolishness.
Damon,

You are welcome by me to post what you think. Don't know why others think they are the webmaster just because they know him. If I don't want to read a post I'll simply won't reply to it. An open forum doesn't use rank or a"I know better then you" attitude. TCSS
Right on Joe:)

We need to keep it clean.
I agree 100%. There is another web site that is trying to act like this site. The problem is they think allowing naked women and open forums on anything will get theirs going. This is for the fire service. Thanks for keeping this what it was meant for.The only thing I think needs to be looked at is the videos. We have been over come with non fire service, stupid videos lately.Other than that, this is a great site.I tell all our new firefighters to join and learn. Thanks all and be safe.
Keeping it clean, and also keeping it in line with the fire service is what will keep this website a cut above the rest. Allowing non-fire service oriented people and forum posts will eventually decay the overall theme of the site.
I do agree with you Mike, but I also think that if there are non-fire service oriented people on here I hope they are here to understand more of what we do. That I don't mind. It is the ones that aren't that bother me...
Ben thank you for your post . First when i sent a message to web chief i asked him to remove the forum and i was thanking him for that . Second i don't think it was a web bot and i didn't wan't a web bot to respond . I Wanted the great friends i have on here to respond . Third the call to keep it respectable is what i was wanting to see .
I agree if you wanna see inappropriate content it would best be elsewhere, also if something looks bad I won't look at the forum either, I like the content that is fire and ems related, we can always learn something from our other Brothers and Sisters.
Hello... my name is Mike and I am addicted to the FFN... : ) and why? Because through this site, I have met and made friends with other firefighters all over the world. If it was not for the FFN, this would not have occurred. From this perspective, I look at the FFN as a global tool, and certainly not just the USA. Every american citizen writing and contributing to this site needs to remember that the are ambassadors for our country. What you post reflects in the eyes of our fire and EMS brothers and sisters all over the world ; defining what we are all about.

Note: From personal experience, I learned that Dave, the web chief is plenty capable of policing the site and does so even more efficiently when you send him an email and a link to what you found inappropriate. Dave is the Incident Commander and we have to let him do his job.
amen mike
and a fine job web chief is doing
