We use a system of velcro name tags. These are placed on unit passports, ex E02, M02, L01 ect. During an incident all arriving units place there passport on the first arriving unit. When the Battalion Chief arrives his aide retrieves the passports and they are then placed on an accountablility board per assignment and location. This is monitored by the Chiefs aide and Chief during the incident. Usually the personel remain with their company but they can be placed anywhere they are needed on the board. We also have a computer that tracks air supply for our MSA SCBA which can be used in a similar way once the BC arrives on scene.
We 6 vol. depts in our county each one has I.D. tags that look like a drivers license our photo name and dept info are on the front and training and emergency info on the back. on mutual aid calls or our own we just turn or badge in it the I.C. when we get our assigments and he puts them on a board according to jobs.
we've got name tags also along with a command board for each engine that shows all the trucks and drivers and their activities.
We use the Passport system for accountability.
