OK so I have been doing this since I was 16, and around it since I was 4. So I'm a lifer...however, my oldest HATES the job. I know it comes from his mom, who never did like what I do, but thats who I am and she learned to deal with it...well, sorta'. I left the vollies when a friend who was career died on his vollie time about 10 years ago. And of course the City decided his pension was voided for volunteering. (That is another story)
Anyway, I gave up the volunteers for her, she had enough issue watching plumes of smoke on the federal reservation I worked at. Knowing I was under one of em, never got comfortable for her. Funny thing is we've been divorced going on 3 years and when I was headed for San Diego a couple weeks ago she was still worried...yep were still friends.
But I digress...about Zak. He has this great fear I will die doing the job and every time we talk he wants to know if we had anything good...and in the same breath tells me he wants me to get off the floor.
Now his little brother, well he will probably follow dads footsteps as much as I want him to do something else, he's gonna be a firefighter.

So after all that. Anyone else have a kiddo who hates the job???

Yall be safe!
