Hola,
Just wanted to get some honest feed back about how men feel about having women serve as FF. Please be very honest! The reason for this is:
1. I have witnessed society feels women can't do this job- we are to fragile , etc.
2. People think women that work around a bunch of men must be easy or having relations with at least one of the them
3. Sexual harrassment issues arise more often
4. Some men have trouble taking orders from a woman (or vice versa)
These are just a few of the things I have seen or heard about.. Please share y you feel this way
Yeah, and we both just got another one... thanks for that!! ;)
Click on "Stop following" in red at the bottom right. That's what I am about to do. The definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome... lol.
Women in the fire service? Women do everything else why not fight fires. As far as being able to do the job that is left up to those that do the hiring. Simply put if they can't they won't get hired. Pretty simple. Our department is mostly volunteer with 33 firefighter, one of them is a female and has been on about 3 years. The only problem I have ever seen with her is that see tries to hard. She needs to relax a little and not try to impress the rest of the "guys" so much. She does a great job and has one hell of a work ethic. We do our best to respect her but we do have the involuntary slip every now and then and I think she respects us for that. I personally have no problem with her and am glad to have her onboard, she is a great asset to the dept.
What the hell... I clicked on stop following (this stupid, redundant and somewhat annoying thread) and I am still getting the f$%#ing emails! how do you make it stop!!! (aside from not posting.. hee hee)!! Seriously!!
PS - Philly, I can make myself fit into small spaces!! lol
Firstly, i think a job is neither a MAN'S job or a WOMAN's job, its whoever is capable of doing it! Granted, generally speaking, a woman is not built like a man, nor in most cases is she stronger than a man. WE all know that. But if she can preform the tasks required as efficently as any a man, she should be treated no different. Regardless of whats rumored, we are subject to the very same PHYSICAL agility tests as the men. I say this because i have experienced it first hand. Out 13 persons total, 12 being men, only 3 passed the physical agility test. we all had to preform the same tasks, during the same timeframe. No handicapps were given for gender. And out of those 12 men.....9 failed. It is all based upon the individuals ability, and the fact that we women cannot pee standing up does not make us any less qualified! ( no offense to the sensable openminded men of the fire service) I think the real fear is the intimadation. The worry that maybe a woman might be able to preform at the same level or above as men.
Has this "VIFirewoman" ever replied just ONCE to ANY of this she started????
I mean, come on, even I had something to say, as many others did, but I didn't think you could start a thread and not reply or even babysit it a teeny bit. Grrrrrrrrr, ***running over and asking her to close it already, glue has been made from the beaten horse". maybe, just maybe, if we all, just replied **grrrr** about 50 times a piece, she'll tire of HER emails being full of this!
We all know the deal on this subject, we all replied several times most likely, but for crying out loud *** and I'mma crying man ...really***.......
I say.. attack her email and comment box!,, who's in with me? hahahahahahahha.***Walks off laughing looking at her profile, hmmmm****
Umm, how about we all just stop clicking on it and stop replying at all (she types and then realizes the irony of those words as she continues to type and continues to recognize the irony).
