Our state firefighter association gives us a $1000 death benefit , $4000 accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage and other insurance benefits for a $10 yearly membership plus $5 for district membership in one of the 10 districts . Do you have an association in your state and what do they do to help you .

Didn't notice this thread when it first appeared!

We do have a State volunteer firefighters association (the career guys have their union) but it has nothing to do with benefits as quoted by you. It does have a fund to assist vols who are in some financial difficulty. Individual FF's are automatically members when they join the Service, fees are paid by the Brigades.
We have a $7000 funeral benefit and $250k death LODD benefit. We also have a pension, it's only $75 it sgrowing and it's better then nothing.
