Does anyone have any tips for taking the new NR Computer Based Test? I recently took it and failed. I have been an EMT for 11 years and am so used to the pencil/paper test that I am not sure what to do. I took the same test in September of 06 and scored a 92. When I took the CBT in August of this year I failed everything except EMS Operations. Any tips or study sites would be great.

I take the test in Dec for the first time. If you find any good study helpers please let me know. I have the knightlite software but am not sure how good it is.

Thanks
Deb.
I haven't taken the CBT but if I'm not mistaken, if you fail the CBT you have to take the refresher course to re-certify. That's what it says on my notice to recertify.
A site I found that has good study tests is EMT-National-Training.com. It is a pay site, but you can take as many tests as you like during your subscription period. I have been using the site and many of the questions seem to be in the NR format. Hopefully this will help me take the test in a few weeks.
You have 3 chances to pass, then you have to take the refresher class. Even if you take the refresher, you still have to pass the CBT after the class (Ohio Standards).
Same as TN. You still must pass the test, even if you are required to take the refresher.

Unlike the previous test where your fee paid for the 6 chances at the test, the CBT fee is $100 PER chance.
What I was told by our EMS director was that you can either do all of the little hoopy jumping things the NREMT asks for or you can take the test. If you fail the test, then you have to jump ALL hoops including the refreshers prior to the expiration of your Registry (March 31?)
State law as well as the national standard dictate the number of tries before a recert class is needed.
