Come on how many times has someone said when they come out of a fire...Wow hot in there??? No really??

I was working OT on a rescue unit and was told to head south for coverage by the same dispatcher 4 times in a shift and he was well less then good at his job so we did that headed south almost 60 miles till he asked where are you and when we answered he asked WHY??? my answer you told us to
Called out for mutual aid on a field fire. Upon arrival I ask the pump operator on the home depts. pumper/tanker where they needed us and he said "Get me water out of my truck and then I will let you know where we need ya!" I pushed the preset button and he had water. Hmmm.
At my old dept. they were doing a talk with the elementary school kids about fire safety and the guy doing all the talking said, " Don't ever get in a bath tub filled with water or you will boil and die." Jaws dropped!!!
I can reminder how long ago it was at least ten years. I was out on a EMS call and we had about three of us there one guy was a newbie. So as things go you seen the new guy out for the thingsd you forget. I turned to him and say go out an get a few 4 x 4's for the leg wound we were there for we wanted to leave a few for the woman. It felt like an hour it was really only a few minutes an in walks our new guy with the 4x4 wood chocks for the tires.
LOL

One evening I heard over the scanner that our neighboring dept got paged out to a grass fire, they put it out and were on the way back to the station when one of the firefighters wife heard her husband key in on the truck radio telling 911 the fire was out, I guess it reminded her of something because she got on her husbands handheld radio and asked him to pick up a load of bread before he came home haha.
lmao damn I guess when you gotta go you gotta go. lmao
Captain: Bring that line over here.
Me: Why?
Captain: So I can flush the damn toilet!

Yup, been there, done that! About laughed my ass off that night.
At the scene of a field fire, the firefighter giving the statement to the media (not me) when asked if the cause of the fire was known yet answered, yes. The reporter asked what it was and teh firefighter repiled "mice with matches". Not only did he really say this, the news actually aired the clip and him saying the fire was caused by mice with matches. I about choked on my dinner when I heard that on the 6 o'clock news!
This one did not happen at a call but at station. Some ten years ago or so the then chief engineer instructed us to remove the cascade cylinders from the rescue for hydrostatic testing. We began the said task by disconnecting the cylinders when he happened to wander over to check on our progress. While standing there watching us he asked us if we drained the cylinders. Keep in mind that at the time our compressor only filled to 4500 lbs. We told him that we did not and his reply was " I don't know how you guys expect to get them off the truck, there's no way you guys will be able to pick up those cylinders with 4500 lbs in them. That's a lot of weight!!" At that point we all started laughing at him and he walked away in disgust. To this day we still ride him about how heavy our packs are by telling him we should get rid of our 45's and go back to 2216's because it would cut down on fatigue and back problems.
I got a few, got to jog the memory a little.

Good ole boy days; Base to Ed, what’s your location…… I’m right here.

Watched 2 eng co try to supply a deck gun hooked up in the following sequence; 1500gpm hydrant…2 ½ to eng 1, 150ft 2 ½ to eng 2 with 2-2 1/2 to gun, couldn’t figure out why they didn’t have any reach.
We had a fully involved structure on Rt 10....Chief called for mutual aid....responding company called out of service then after a few minutes called us and told us they were on rt 10...where exactly was the fire....Chief got on the radio...Told them to continue on Rt 10....when they got to a large truck with flashing light that was beside the building that had flames and smoke coming out the windows they were there......DUH.....Here's your sign.......Paul
we were on a working structure fire and myself and a fellow firefighter were to get a 2 1/2 off the back of another pumper (not ours) and hook into ours. So we are at the back of the pumper when the driver asked us what we were doing...
Me: we're grabbing a 2 1/2 off your rig to hook into ours
Driver: we don't have any 2 1/2 on here
other ff: oh...
I take a look... grab the 2 1/2 off the back...
Me: here's the 2 1/2 !
Driver: Oh, i didn't know we had that on there

Oh Boy...
