31 childs die in a daycare center fire in Hermosillo Sonora Mexico.UPDATED THE COUNT RAISE TO 48 ANGELS .

A fire that began in a tire storage facility and spread to a daycare center in northern Mexico killed at least 31 children Friday, officials said.

The center, in the city of Hermosilla in Sonora State, was government run, the BBC reported.

"We're still investigating what caused the fire," Jose Larrinaga of the state prosecutor's office said.

When the fire began, 176 children ranging in age from 6 months to 5 were believed to be inside. Many of them were trapped by thick smoke, local news media reported.

President Felipe Calderon offered condolences to the bereaved families, saying he felt "profound pain" over the deaths.

OMG !!!!!!

THE COUNT RISE TO 35 !!!!
It is our job and purpose in life as firefighters to prevent this type of thing from occurring. Not everywhere in the world enjoys the benefits of aggressive fire prevention and building codes. This is a tragedy unmatched by anything I can think of when 35 innocent children are killed so violently.

My prayers go out to the families and friends of these poor souls but I can't help thinking about the emotional trauma the responders are going through. May god bless these folks and give them the strength and ability to handle this and move on with their lives...

My prayers to these families may the children R.I.P
NOW 38 BABIES !!!!!!!!

I dont even have words, tryen to choke out the ones I have, may they be playing in the playgrounds of Heaven, and may the Lord be with there familys.
I agree, when I saw it on the news a few minutes ago I actually got emotional at the thought. CNN said one person was so desperate that they were ramming a truck into the building to try and get in.

"Firefighters carried injured children through the front door — the building's only working exit — and through large holes that a civilian knocked into the walls before rescue crews arrived, according to a fire department official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the fire."

God Bless 'em all, I could not imagine such a horrible event for rescue workers or parents/relatives. May those children rest in peace.
