Wake (One Day Only)

Members attending the public visitation wake of Firefighter Christopher Slutman on April 25 should be aware that there are no public parking lots available in the vicinity of Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Ave. Bronx, NY 10462.

Parking will be available at Orchard Beach in the Bronx. A shuttle service from Orchard Beach to the funeral home will be provided for both the 2:00 – 4:00 PM and the 7:00 – 9:00 PM sessions on Thursday. Shuttle service will begin approximately 30 minutes before each session. Shuttle service will end approximately 45 minutes after the completion of each wake session. Department personnel will be present at both the parking lot and drop off location to direct anyone wishing to utilize this service.

The nearest train is the 2 train at the Bronx Park East Station, a half mile walk.

Funeral

Members attending the funeral of Firefighter Christopher Slutman on Friday, April 26, at Saint Thomas Church, 1 W 53rd St. New York, NY 10019, are asked to line up at 10:30 AM along 5th Avenue from 51st Street South to 42nd Street.

Members attending the funeral are strongly encouraged to utilize mass transit, as there are no designated parking areas for private vehicles. Options include:

B, D, F, or M subway lines to 47-50 Street Rockefeller Center Station
E line to 5 Ave/53 Street Station
4, 5, 6, 7 subway lines or Metro-North RR to Grand Central

Companies and outside departments utilizing charter buses are asked to follow the following routes for access and parking:

Entering from the East side of Manhattan, take 42nd Street to Madison Ave. Head North on Madison Ave. IMT members will direct buses to park along the East side of Madison. Entering from the West side of Manhattan, take 42nd Street to 6th Ave. Head North on 6th Ave. IMT members will direct buses to park along the East side of 6th Ave. All Off-Duty Members should attend in Class A Uniform.  The weather forecast calls for rain in the afternoon on Friday.
