Hope Janke, Director of the PSOB Office, Bureau of Justice Assistance, DOJ, will discuss the purpose of the Public Safety Officers' Benefits Program (PSOB). Established in 1976, the PSOB program provides death and educational benefits to survivors of fallen firefighters, law enforcement officers and other first responders, as well as disability benefits to officers catastrophically injured in the line of duty.
The presentation will provide important information on initiating the claims process for a fire department that experiences a line of duty death or serious injury and contact information for the BJA office. There will be opportunities at the conclusion of the presentation for a question and answer session.
