DESCRIPTION:Hope Janke, Director of the PSOB Office, Bureau of Justice
  Assistance, DOJ, will discuss the purpose of the Public Safety Office
 rs' Benefits Program (PSOB).  Established in 1976, the PSOB program p
 rovides death and educational benefits to survivors of fallen firefigh
 ters, law enforcement officers and other first responders, as well as 
 disability benefits to officers catastrophically injured in the line o
 f duty.  The presentation will provide important information on initi
 ating the claims process for a fire department that experiences a line
  of duty death or serious injury and contact information for the BJA o
 ffice.  There will be opportunities at the conclusion of the presenta
