Does your Department allow members to hang out at the department when off duty?

My department allows us to have member only gatherings in our members lounge as long there is no drinking of alcoholic beverages going on. but seeing that there is no duty crew and i am in a vfd. i usally hang with my friend and order pizza and wings and watch tv

We allow our firefighters to hang out at the station providing there isnt anything going on such as meetings or other civic functions. Many times we find things for them to do or they end up doing some training or just BSing. They are welcome to hang out there provided nothing gets out of hand.
YES WE ARE ALLOWED- SAME DEAL AS YOURS- A LITTLE TV, MIGHT MONKEY AROUND WITH SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT- MIGHT ALSO HAVE SOME THINGS TO DO IF WE'VE HAD A CALL
As a volunteer department we encourage it. They recently (last year) put on an addition to our house that including a lounge and a fittness room not to mention an addtional bay. So yeah, we like to have guys hang out there creates and builds a tighter knit group.
Our Chief encourages it (being a volunteer department). Especially for the new members, it gives them a chance to go through the equipment at their own leisure and pace, just as long as everthing is put back as it was found. The chief's mindset is, it is our department, so why not utilize it when possible.
We encourage the members to hang out at the station, We think it helps with the responce time when we get a call
I cannot imagine a volunteer department/station/company NOT allowing members to hang out. My department strongly encourages it. I can only guess what a members "lounge" is, and we do not have to worry about alcohol because it doesn't exist on department property. We do have a day room, (tv room) where we can watch movies, play video games (the younger generation) and generally socialize.
Yes, Yes, and Yes
Ya same with us we are a VFC so hanging out at the station helps response time, lets us accomplish other work, do extra training and reaserch, teach the new guys some stuff. No out of control partying though. We have a nintendo Wi and a pool table and stuff so it gives us other things to do when we are hanging out down there.
Yup.... hanging out there right now lol. There is usually one or two guys down here just watching tv or whatever.
Yes, but they have to act profesional
yup...we do too.....
Not only does it improve response times, and opportunity for newbies to get familiarized with equipment, it's a GREAT way for members to get to know each other and "bond"(for lack of a better word). Just kinda like a "boys & girls club". We have darts, pool table, cards, cable TV. Some chuck a trining dvd in and discuss it.
I believe it should be encouraged in EVERY dept.
my dept lets us hang out all we want. most the time we bs or wash trucks and stuff like that. althought i was on a Vol dept that unless u were on the ambulance shift that night, u were not allowed at the station after 11pm. that went for everyone, not just jr's. i never really understood the reasoning behind it (something must have happened before my time i guess)
