I put my helmet on when Im about to exit my vehicle. The only time I have ever hit my head on the doorframe is with my helmet on...so i wait.

However, sometimes we have rookies wear them in the cab...you know...JUST CUZ! lol
Helmets off in cab, I place mine on the seat until I am ready to get out. I have seen many
hit their helmet on the door frame, and most of the time getting in or out, then
they have to pick it up off the street, or the floor board of the cab.
...and that never looks good!

uh firefighter down...seems to have hit his helmeted head on a door frame...send the medics! lol
Bad, why would you want to wear a helmet in the cab of a truck? Seems like I heard some group called the NFPA or something like that make a rule about helmets in trucks.
I don't see a need to wear helmets in the cabs. They can restrict your side to side head movement, thus impairing your side vision. Especially if you are the driver.
Wearing helmets in the cab is part of the process of being ready to do what we do best. As DT commented its about a vehicle wreck. Maybe soon we will be told its un-safe to ride in fire apparatus. OWWWWWW! and what about fighting fire? Dam thats the ultimate scary stuff. Better not do that either
Jack, no, wasnt my comment or at least what I meant. I just wonder where it all stops Bro. Possibly breathing is bad for us too cause of whats in the air. I just get exasperated with the BS some days. Hum? we issue helmets to our guys to protect their heads but then we say dont wear them cause it might hurt your neck while riding in a apparatus? Just WTF do you want me to do? Lets see in this situation I should do this but in that one its nots safe to do that. My point is get your friggen biosolids together and come back to me with a common sense answer.
Maybe not but it does make sense when will it all stop?
Just more of the animal biosolids wonderful work of those who claim to represent our best interests and pad their pockets. Jack, I'm obviously in need of some serious attitude adjustment here. How about we meet and discuss a few pints?
I like it Chief!
I wonder if we can fit a ladder in the cab so we can be REALLY ready to go?
Hey chief soon those biosolids will tell us that firefighting is dangerous and not to go inside but half the people do that already
