I was just curious as to know which brand of pack everyone prefers. Tell which one and why. To get started I like ISI, and maybe because thats what we use and I have always used but i like it.

It's interesting to hear the different brands out there- we predominantly have MSA, Drager and Sabre as the 3 main brands in Aust. I'm sure there's others out there, but they'd be the main ones.

An example is Mike's Interspiro brand- never even heard of the brand....
In all honesty, MSA is how I started my career and I had not yet learned how to manage SCBA, air conservation, etc...By the time, I got into Scotts, I was much more comfortable with SCBA so that very well may have played a part in my preference for Scott now. But, Scott seems to be low maintenance, a simple design, easy to use with gloves on, easy to troubleshoot, etc...
I think if you want an SCBA you cant go wrong with SCOTT. It is easy to use fits good and is very comfortable to wear. I tink that SCOTT is the leader in development and on the cutting edge with all of there new products
Like all of my equipment, I just use what 'they' give me. Sabre in this case. Are they good? They work The carbon fibre cylinders are light. I have no difficulty wearing them. Our career neighbours have Draeger - and a bit more modern than ours. (I use the Anglicised spelling - no umlaut on this keyboard...)

As for the calls to buy stuff made in the USA? Of course you guys should - as long as the quality is there! I'd be backing Aussie made BA sets if such a thing existed...
We had just switched to Drager From Scott.I had never wore anything else until now and was by far favoring Scott when we had the sales reps in from ISI, MSA, Survivair, Scott, and Drager. By far the new Drager packs are more comfortable to wear. Performance wise it is a spectacular piece of equipment, from the streamlined pack to the regulator and mask configuration.
Now that I have tried a few others out there I would be hard pressed to put a vote in for anyone other than Drager.
I'm going to have to go with MSA. I have mainly trained with them is why I feel totally comfortable with them.
I've used both, Scott and MSA, my department uses all MSA, we have both the mask and hip mounted regulators. The MMR's are ok, but do not compare to the Scott packs, in terms of usage, I find there's a little more fumbling around with the hose and regulator on the MSA's, but that's just my opinion.
My department uses MSA's I like them but I have always been a fan of draggers.
I used Scotts for over 30 years until my department went to MSA 5 years ago. We should have stuck with the Scotts. MSA has already replaced all of our integrated PASS alerts for free. I wonder why?
My department uses interspiro. Unfortunatly our pack are older pack and are quite heavy compared to MSA or Scott. Most of the people on my department want to get better/new packs, but god forbid we do something that actually makes our job a little easier.
with me being a explorer I really don't know what it is like wearing a scba to a call. But I have had on a survive air and a interspiro on before and I think the survive air is better. but thats just me.
