mom woke me up an hour ago like the doctor said to but now i cant go back to sleep... so im gonna explain my day

well i had my first concussion this year back in january after a snow tubing wreck... i got up after hitting my head walked to the car and passed out... mild concussion. I honestly though this incident would be my only concussion . i dont play dangerous sports, or skateboard and my helmet is always on when im at a fire scene so this came up really out of nowhere.

Today i thought everything was gonna be fine.. i mean everyone worries about friday the 13th but i never had anything really happens. During second block right after lunch i got a bathroom pass, the one down by my hall was locked so i was going to see if the one upstairs was locked too. I walked up there... it was locked (they say its to keep people from smoking in the bathroom, i personally hate it because i have to go to the complete other end of the school) well i turned around and my phone fell out of my pocket so i bent over to pick it up and walked to the stairs...

I remember turning to go down the atairs and the next thing i knew i was laying on the floor in my downstairs 2nd block with people standing around me. I dont remember walking down the stairs at all. Well this is where it gets interesting, they reviewed the tape on the stairs that they use again to keep people from smoking in the stairs. They told me i walked to the stairs and stopped and looked very confused and turned around.... i did this three times before i tried to go down the stairs. Well i either passed out or tripped or something and rolled down the stairs with my head banging on the rail.... i stayed passed out at the bottom of the stairs for about 30 seconds then got up and walked down the other part of stairs to my classroom where i passed out and hit my head on a desk.

The school nurse came running down and i was a little panicky, then they started talking about transport and i got really worried then... i was sick to my stomach and felt like crap (pardon the language) they wouldn't let me move since i hit my head (didn't know about falling down stairs yet) which i know was a good thing for my benefit but still i didn't like it.. Hospital was quick about getting me off the board though. OH and the emt put my iv in during the ambulance ride didn't even hurt too bad.... the nurse was fiddling with it and messed it up.. really hurt and they didn't even use it. drew blood in the other arm and i guess busted a vein... they couldn't get it in my elbow so they used my forearm and its brusied and swollen. great.

They did a ct scan and i have another concussion, little headache but nothing bad. the thing that worries the doctor is that there is "an unclear spot" on the ct scan so i gotta go get an mri...

btw when they took me to a hospital in an ambulance, i was really comfortable with the emts who took me to the hospital... one of them even came back in to ask me if my head was hurting still. so props to the shelby county ems. Thanks Waldo!!!! (i found out one of the emts lives in bagdad and used to work at the store the chief of our firehouse owns.

Anyway i just thought yall might wanna know...thanks for reading!!

btw now im ferris buehler at the high school, ppl who weren't at school knew before i was out of the hospital. and the last person said they heard i got in a fight and some girl pushed me into the desk.... gotta love high school

I don't know what' like in the states. Highschool life is the best and memorable part in life.

Well as the saying the fire service. We know how to take care of our own. I believe the medic's knew your are active member of JFF unit.

That's an interesting story Jess. Mike

Wow, sounds like you had a really bad day. Glad to hear that the EMT's did a great job with you. I try very hard to go back in the hospital room after transferring care and just tell the patient to get better and make sure that they are as comfortable as possible before I leave. Yeah I have to agree with you about the gotta love high school, I had it going around that I got into a fight with someone and it never happened. It was just great. Good luck with getting better and finding out what is going on with why this happened. Keep your chin up they will figure it out and make it better. Be safe and again good luck...
