The Social Network & Community JUST for Firefighters
New Radio System
My dept has gone to the digital radio system....it stinks. We have to keep our radios under our coats and not in the radio pocket. Anyone else having the same problems?

They are not waterproof, and a chief officer said we were loosing 4 radios on a good fire from water damage.

Why is that? What is the difference between under the coat or in the pocket? explain please. First I have ever heard of this.
What kind (brand, band, etc ) of radios are you referring to?
