Sir,
I retired as an Lt. in 2003 aft. abt. 30yrs on the street. How long have you been retired? I have difficulty letting go of the FD. I still have startled response, hypervigilence and sleep disturbance. My Engine ran 8-10 calls a day, mostly aft. 10 pm. It was not uncommon to be up all night. My last shift we left the station at 10pm and returned at 7am aft. running calls. My last year we ran 167 structure fires.
I was in a local office (we had cad system) and their printer went off and I stood up thinking I had to respond.
Did you have difficulty adjusting to retirement? I hate being retired but at the age of 64 yo I don't have a choice. I qualified through our combat test well within the time limit.
I was just asking how you adjusted to retirement.
Thank you in advance for your time.
With deep respect,
Larry
