I know you said you interested in HAZMAT if you joined the FD in Houston so it might be a good idea to try and exhaust every avenue and aspect of HAZMAT training that the Pasadena FD would be willing to give to you. It obviously won't hurt your case if you have prior HAZMAT training - volunteer or not - when you apply for Houston FD Hazardous Materials Response Team.
