It's not uncommon to see American flags on fire apparatus.

On uniforms...

or even stickers, patches and badges.

Question 1 • Is the USA flag something that your department includes on your uniform and/or fire apparatus?

Question 2 • If you are not from the USA, does your department displays their countries flags the same as we do in the USA?

HI I am 100pro german ;-) and in germany apart from dresses for international response e.g. @fire www.at-fire.de or THW or international drills etc. like the CTIF we don`t wear the flag, which I dislike as we should be more proud of our country and us being part of it but this still sticks back to the war times. :-(
We do have the flag on our dress uniforms.
I can see having a flag if you are out of the country, but I think most people know that we are "american FF's". They don't need to be reminded with a flag patch or sticker.
Greg,

I think it's similar to why some people put a huge decal on their windshield that says 'chevy' 'ford' or whatever. I think it's really a case of short-term memory loss. They can't remember what make of vehicle they drive, or what country their in...perhaps.
We have the Canadian flag on our trucks and on our turnout gear as well as on our USAR Uniforms.
We have flag on the chest of our fatigue shirts, arm of the bunker coat as well as the department logo on the other arm and decals on all the trucks. Some of the aerials fly flags off the turntable guard rails.

I really like this decal though, and wish it were on all of our trucks...

Yes we do with pride on both accounts. On our apparatus flags are displayed. On our uniforms? Yes indeed. Our patch has the flag incorporated in it.

Our department is also volunteer and its not on all our apparatises or uniforms but i personally put one on my helmet
There is a huge difference between being proud of your country and its ideals, which I am, and flag waving nationalism, which I despise. In my view Nationalism leads to conflict as you well know, being proud of your country does not.
You may have something there!
That is a lot of maple syrup!
I serve on a volunteer department that has the U.S. flag on the right shoulder. Some of our newer trucks has the flag painted on. During special events we hand the flag from our aerial or drap it across a street with the assistance of a neighboring department. We also proudly display the flag in front of our station 24/7 (with appropriate lighting.) I do not have a flag anywhere on my bunker gear or helmet. Some of those that have purchased their own gear do.
