CLEARWATER, Fla. - The City of Clearwater terminated Fire Chief Jamie Douglas Geer Monday, following his arrest by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for Capital Sexual Battery.

Geer, 56, of Dunedin, Fla. was arrested Monday by the FDLE for sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age, a capitol felony.

FDLE began investigating Geer in August after receiving allegations he had inappropriate relations with a minor. The investigation revealed that Geer had numerous sexual encounters with the juvenile victim over a nine year period.

He is currently being charged with one count of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age.

Geer came to Clearwater in 2004 after a brief stint as Interim Fire Chief of a small department in Tennessee.

Geer was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000.

Deputy Chief Robert Weiss will serve as Interim Fire Chief.

"I knew he was a jackass...he hated female firefighters. He seemed very weird to me at times felt uncomfortable around him."

Well I guess that settles it. He must be guilty. Apparently he was a jackass, hated female firefighters, and you were uncomfortable around him. That seems iron clad, let's hang the bastard!

Give me a friggin break! Just because someone gives you the creeps, doesn't make him a child molestor! Let the justice system (flawed as it may be) do it's job.

For all I know, you'd give me the creeps. That doesn't make you a bad person does it?
Mike, I gotta say that as usual you make a valid point. I guess I just don't want to believe that like us could commit such a horrendous crime, and yet, if it's determined that he DID commit this crime, then he was NEVER like us in the first place.

You're right, I'm sure the information/evidence was thoroughly vetted before any charges were filed against this guy. Another black eye for the Fire Service, as well as a child who will be forever changed by this.
hey maybe she has more info than you why put bail at 500,000 da must haver a reason
Perhaps you should go back and re-read my post Ed.

I was merely pointing out her flawed reasoning for finding someone guilty. If she had any real or useful info, she probably would have posted it instead of just ranting about how he must be guilty since he gave her the creeps.
your right my bad just an off the cuff reaction alot of media coverage here plus I should proof read before posting also at the same time another manager in another field was arrested for the same thing
No worries. I'm just a big believer in "innocent until proven guilty". If he's found guilty, then I also believe he deserves the maximum penalty the law can give.
