Your firefighter number?
Ok you get issued a number when you join your department of course the chief is usually 101 asst. 102 and so forth 101-109 on our dept. is for officers after that the numbers really dont matter. I noticed on other departments it may be different how does it work on yours? I am 116.

on my dept, the chief is fire 1 dc's are fire 2 and fire 3, i am fire 22, if you are a LT of Capt you keep ypu number you started with, i if i become a officer i will stay fire 22 unless i become a DC or the Chief, we have no station number because we have only on station and we have our own freq. that we dispatched on. our trucks are ladder 1, engine 2, engine 3, engine 4, truck 4 (pickup), rescue 1, and brush 1 (stump jumper 1 realy tends to piss off dispatch when you sign on as that), we have no chiefs cars and we dont go direct unless its a medical call,out gear stays at the station unless we are goin to a training and it quicker to just have it with you the day or so befor

Our County uses station number followed by a letter designation for personnel our rural stations have A-D designated for Chief, Asst. Chief, EMS coordinator, and Asst. Coordinator all other designations are assigned to firefighters Captains, and Lieutenants as available. So a Chief at station 73 would be 73-Alpha and so on

I was shocked to hear that there are fire departments that use numerals.
All fire department identifiers should use the alphabet, like the old "Truck A", "Truck B" (now Truck...well, it uses a numeral now), etc that Washington, DC used in the past. -
