Out of all the many careers choices, opportunities and rewarding experiences, would you want your son or daughter to become a firefighter?

Firefighting is one of the most self less jobs around.  It takes loyalty and trust that is hard to find in any other career.  If your son or daughter said that they wanted to be firefighters, would you say "Absolutely!"

Yea I would love for my child to be a firefighter. That can be a bonding chance. What parent doesn't want their child to follow their foot steps? ( in a honorable career of course lol)
Very well said and very true.
After reading (currently) four pages of replies it would seem that we are almost all on the same page... responsible parents who love and support their kids AND our profession.

Your kids are your kids. You love and support them in whatever they do.
Are you going to worry? Sure. But what parent wouldn't.

As long as they do it for the right reasons.
Yes .My youngest daughter join when she was 16 she got m involved 10 tears ago she has left the departmnet now my youngest joined at 14 andis now has her ff1&2 .Its a great thing to do would rather have them doing this then running the streets It also looks good when they are getting ready to go to college to show hw they spend there time
MBHB, I'm finding it hard to believe that you're missing a fellow firefighter yet posting about your experiences here at FFN.

Nothing would take me away from the scene until the brother was found.
I am with you on that one..... I would never leave one of my mates behind......
Ditto!!
Is he okay? What fire hall is he with? Would love to follow the story!
I believe this is Bullshit....does that give you any indication...? and I am going to contact your listed Department to see if you are indeed a member......... 8) have a great day...never mind....I got my answer......By the way how do you "retire" with 1 year...?
Does anyone know what happened with the missing FF feed?
Patti, it was BS, see Paul's input.

My comments before his were me being lazy and not wanting to research the woman posting this stuff. Too many of us couldn't get our heads around someone doing something like this while on-scene at a fire with a man missing/down. The last thing on our minds would be hitting FFN to post about it.
That's the truth with ANY FIREFIGHTER......at least any REAL Firefighter...any questions....?
