Should a persons age be a facture in determining if they can or cannot perform certain tasks for the fire department?  What about a persons weight?  Or should it be if you can perform your task performances in the allotted time no matter how old you are or how much you weigh?  I have been reading a discussion (and participating in it) where if you are older you are more stubborn, and over confident in your abilities.  What about those who are younger fresh out of school and academy should that same comment apply to them?

I know Paul, I know.

That is why I instructed Patti to ignore the boys trying to compete...

a winner has already been declared...

everyone else is just competing for 2nd best ;-)
Amen Sister !!!

don't become complacent and lazy like some who have come before us
the longer you serve the more you realize that there are guys you will never trust your life with - DON'T ever enter a building with a partner you know to have un-safe practices - since you are likely to NOT come out ALIVE !

You have the right to say NO - I consider that order unsafe.

There were distinctly 5 guys I would NEVER partner with to enter a building - since I knew that they could not keep themselves safe, let alone look out for my best interest.
my best counsel ever I could give

SLOW DOWN

and THINK

to many times people do not thoroughly evaluate a scene before rushing in

Your taking an extra minute or two will save your life and the lives of those around you and you will make much better more effective and efficient decisions.

and analyze continually as you work - since the situation can change rapidly - but also analyze later as you are doing to learn how to improve your attentiveness and integrate new knowledge to add to your skill set.

remember, no book can ever teach you what happens in real life...
So Patti - you pour gasoline on the fire... on purpose... then you bring their wrath down upon you...

some of them have no stop gate... so my counsel is to be careful on how much gas you pour... just for entertainment purposes.
You will make mistakes, like crossing Jack. But just learn from them!

Heather, you are very prolific today! No typing cramp yet?
I am one of these people either you like me or you hate me. I can and do make mistakes and when I am wrong I will apologize and learn from it.
I think it is a great practice that we have gotten into. I learn from it and they get refreshers from it. Classes are great but hands on is better.
it was imperative that I fully express my amusement at your comment

ROTFLMAO x's 300

so as you can see, I gave up before fully expressing my true feelings...

p.s. it is called, copy / paste...
Well, I am never wrong... hee hee

So I am not sure we can be friends... because I can move any closer to enlightenment right now - I am finding my life too bright already :-)
