Should a persons age be a facture in determining if they can or cannot perform certain tasks for the fire department?  What about a persons weight?  Or should it be if you can perform your task performances in the allotted time no matter how old you are or how much you weigh?  I have been reading a discussion (and participating in it) where if you are older you are more stubborn, and over confident in your abilities.  What about those who are younger fresh out of school and academy should that same comment apply to them?

It was not your profile but another profile we were talking about.

Hmmm, anyone want then to clarify their point?

Sure, your profile tells me that you and I will butt heads.

People that butt heads with Jack usually have a head ache. Ask Ben.

Patti;

Why would that be? There's nothing in YOUR profile that would make ME assume such a thing. You may want to be a bit more explicit with your reasoning.

love is a strong word to use, isn't it?
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Functionally illiterate people,
Conspiracy theorists,
Flaming idiots.
Do away with the above and the Fire Service stands a chance, inside and outside.

Do I need to expand on these?
Patti,

Perhaps you should. Copy and pasting what's in my profile doesn't really prove anything. I've been around long enough, both in the fire service and on this earth to have developed some strong opinions and awareness. Far be it from me to judge you, I'd expect at least that from you.

But back to your "point." What is it to you how I fill out the questions in the profile? In my view, I've answered them as I saw fit. Funny, I guess Karr's profile passed muster with you.

I'm guessing in your holier than thou lenses that what I listed as the top issues facing responders may have rubbed you the wrong way. But...prove me wrong on those three accounts.

Functionally illiterate people; we have our share of them here in FFN and scarily, they vote. Which means that if they don't understand the issues before them they may not actually be voting for what's actually best for them. Like, I dunno, continued funding for their fire department.

Conspiracy theorists; You know, the ones that seem to think the NFPA and the IAFF are out to get them. Such as that.

Flaming idiots; Need I say more? How about homeowners that prefer NOT to pay for a fire protection subscription?

Clearly you lack, if not an actual sense of humor, than certainly a robust one. And by the way, giving as a reason for joining a fire department as a way to "give back to the community" is a very old and trite reason. Let's be honest, ya did it for the superhero cape. :)
Jack I think we should take this offline.
I see no reason for that. After all, you've implied something by pointing out my profile. I think it's only fair to carry it through where you started it. I don't have a problem with it.
No Patti, you need to lighten up! The get a dictionary out look up satire. You know, biting wit, irony or sarcasm used to expose vice or folly. JFC!
The I won't be able to read it, and laugh and wonder.
Apparently, me either. Cue the
