Ok we have all heard them
"Firefighters are Whores and Drunks ......"
I have personally be called things I wish not to repeat based on my job, how did these rumors start ? I am aware that the Fire Service is very family orientated. For fun what is the stereotype you hate the most ?

and you concede the fire will just lay down and die for women...
so then our job would be done more quickly :-)
so who needs "male" firefighters ?
I didn't say anything about quick, but the fire would just lay down and die. Most likely after consuming anything worth saving in its attempt to flee the yapping.

I hate the notion of a "real firefighter" only being a paid on. I was going around to local businesses for preplans one day. I finally got to a new restaurant in our district to get the information. Well, the owner was/is a customer of mine at my job. As I introduced myself, and said the name of the department(which included the word volunteer), he began laughing. He then began telling jokes in his native language to another man who I assume was a Co-owner. I obviously didn't know what he was saying, but they kept looking back at me, then to each other saying something and laughed some more. Wow was it irritating.

some of my best expierencies have been with female firefighters. once was the lone man on an all woman shift- boy did i take the heat for that but it was fun. they were more surley than i was

you were a very lucky man...
that is rare experience... a true blessing...
and yes, women when they are away from men are hard core about what they talk about... the girly stuff we just do as a smoke screen in front of men
