Massachusetts FD Ordered to Remove Merry Christmas Sign
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - An annual "Merry Christmas" sign on a North Andover fire station has been ordered removed.
Town officials told firefighters last week to take down the homemade sign after they said people complained.
Fire Chief William Martineau said Monday that the sign was made by firefighters about 50 years ago and never had been an issue before.
The order comes a week after selectmen voted to allow a menorah display on the town common for only one day instead of all eight days of Hanukkah. They said a new town common policy only allows displays to stay up for one day, no matter what they are.
Town Manager Mark Rees said the town's public buildings should not be displaying things specific to a particular religion.

I wasn't referring to them as not being Christian, but none the less, the people who run your goverment offices, or your commisioners, or at least that's what we call them here. "them' or "they" are the people who run the city in which the sign was hung! They are so afraid of offending someone, not thinking what it may do to the people who have lived there for years, or not caring at all, but worried what it may look like if they weren't kissing A-- to keep from stepping on toes. It's that way all over the world, not just there, and it's not who you are, but who you know that get's the attention. I don't think our city or county offices should cater to anyone for any reason, regardless of the color of skin, beliefs or how much money you have, because none of that matter's, I also think that as a fireman you would know that even in certain instances you chose that job because you wanted to help people, and save lives...but would they be that quick to help you? some people refuse to recieve blood transfusions due to their beliefs, but if it would save your life wouldn't you? I love all people, but I think they should leave the sign that has hung there for the last 50 yrs....it's not hurting anything, and the people who wanted down, should think about how they feel about signs on theirs, and have them hung in the same manner, Really we shoudn't have to change who or what we are because our goverment, city or county commisioners say so. we pay taxes just like everyone else, we elected these people to run our town, and if they don't do the job...they get the axe at election time!

You are right. There are no expressions to help get the correct intentions out in statements.
That is indeed a downside to this. Maybe some of those emoticon things would help? Little happy faces and such? heheh.
I can understand where you are coming from with that statement I made, and I can't argue how you see it. But the way I see it as not putting the words..... is this seems like what you are saying is . And I will appologise if it in fact looks like I put words in your mouth. Was not the intention. Just wanted to have a little fun.
