For those of you who believe there is no racism or discrimination in America's Fire departments, think again. Poor Man's Lotto: Memoirs of a Black Firefighter in America brings to light the racial predjudices that are still part of this courageous group of men. Now only if they can find the courage to face their discriminatory practices. As Former Director of Emergency Services and Homeland Security, it disturbs me greatly and deeply that this continues to be a norm in this agency. Hopefully, Poor Man's Lotto will open not only your eyes but also your minds. Personally, I would be scared to go into a hazardous environment knowing how some of you really feel about Blacks!

Yes it is a form of art. But then again a few different sexual activities are considered art in other countries.

damn Loyd, you gotta read the book. :-)
I know I would like to. Sounds like it could be good.
Ya, I was just thinking if there were some teasers out there more people would be inclined to read this book. After talkin a lil with Ernest he seems like an ok guy so ill try to help promote his book.
Yeah, it would be nice to get a little in-sight on the book itself since that's what this thread was supposed to be about. Hey Ernest, wanna give us a little preview?
Sure.... Its about a kid growing up wanting nothing more then to be a firefighter. When i was young i was told i couldnt be a firefighter because i was black. I was locked in on being a firefighter and when the opportunity came i made it my business to become a firefighter. As a firefighter i ran into some racist firefighter that wanted me to fail, but again i didnt let that take my love and passion away from being a firefighter. I talk about things that happened to me. It talks about my rough childhood and how i fought through the negative in my life and made something out of nothing.
you must understand that the people that you allow to represent you.......unfortunately do represent you.
Even if you have different views and ideologies than the publisher (and I truly hope you do) .....the way he presented himself and your book (and by proxy you )in this forum was completely uncalled for and his disparaging remarks were a bit over the top.

Maybe one day I will get a chance to read your book.......but I refuse to put one cent of my money in the pocket of your publisher.

Hopefully you understand my stance on the subject, if not, feel free to private message me.
Congrats on achieving your dream, and on your book.
