Ok hopefully the title of this thread caught your attention. Here's the deal, with the advent of the computer and internet access, many fire departments, organizations or places of employment feel their employee's have greatly mis-used the internet for a large amount of potential employee lost time while at work.

With that said, who here is addicted to FFN and what amount of time do you spend browsing, reading and posting on FFN while at your place of employment?

If your Fire Chief came to you and said, they are going to block access to FFN due to its "Social Networking Status" how would you react to the disseminated information?

I am one of those people that stop by and check the latest forum posts. I have however found some very good content and training aids, especially the Hendersonforeonline.com site. It is very good!!!

You should feel better. As you know admission is the first step to recovery. lol
Well, I personally feel that FFN is a great place to network with other FF's to gather information about current safety issues, department policies, new tactical approaches to situations and the list goes on. I am currently a stay-at-home mom and I spend a large part of my day here with my new extended fire family! If I were a paid FF and was told that I wasn't able to access FFN anymore, I would lay out my case to my Chief siting all the great information I have been able to obtain from this site.

I have asked questions regarding SOP/SOG's, Constitution & By-Laws, training, fund raising and many others. The responses I have received have been worth their weight in GOLD! If I didn't have this site to turn to for information, it would be very difficult to approach a fire department 2,000 miles away or more and ask them the questions I have asked here.

I hope my response to your question made some kind of sense. LOL

Be careful and stay safe! ~Tammy~
Yes they do have the right to check what we are doing on there and no we do not go to porn sites or do side jobs we just check e-mail and trainning but they dont mind ffn it has some good info on the site for firefighting
I'd tell him to pound rock salt in his _ss.....LOL...What I do at home on MY time and on MY computer is no-ones business but mine....I can waste my time anyway I like.....LOL....Paul
Good thing, I am the I.T. ! I have full access. Technically in my company (day job) did not block social sites. But only key employees or "need to have" access.

For me, I spend atleast 1 hour a day with FFN. Learned a lot from other brothers and sisters out there. I hope you guys in FD out there, should have access to FFN.
I use to spend alot of time when I worked nights ,but found with my new day job it's hard.. I very much enjoy the site..Every so often I take a peak during the day,but that's it... Nights off.....
thats why i don´t use the internet when i´m on my shift!!!
