I am new to our training division and I would like to get some different types of props. Does anyone have any tried and true setups? Some tips and pics on the construction would be great too. Thanks.

We came across some panels that measure approx 2'x4' in width and length. We made tunnels to simulate confined spaces, layed a charged line through them then crossed up the line, put it through another tunnel and had two man teams search for the nozzel. To simulate releaving the initial attack crew who had already streched the line. We threw in a new fog machine just for good measure. This is simple, back to basics training.
we just turn our hood around...instead of coffee filters
During my MOD 1 training the instructors strected out hoses & crossed them several times. they also set up tables as an obstical. then we were in full gear with our hood on backwards...they turned the lights off & lead us in the room... then they spun us around. we had to drop to our knees & find a coupling & figure out which way was out & get out...this simulates disoriented firefighter
Yes I did get this and it is a great article, and I did receive the information you sent me too. Thanks.
Thank you Ashley, we have done this drill before, and I have forgotten it, I will have to set this up again.
I have found some great VES footage on youtube. Thanks. We are haveing our drill at the end of June.
Thank you I will let you know if I need more, I can use all the help I can get.
Crumpled wax paper works pretty well too!
We went to a local school and did a "search" of the auditorium...in full gear with masks "blacked out"....WOW...!! You have to count rows to tell where you are and then when your air gets down and you have to find your way out...and count again to report to the next team where you left off....really confusing and not as easy as one might think..those seats are not very far apart...and not easy crawling through them.....Paul
Jeff with our Dept we work hand to hand with the city and our rural area and we have standing structures all the time come up that are to be torn down or whatever. We do a short contract that releases us from any damage and we have more fun with a smoke machine and whatever training aids we can find to put inside. We even have some that we made the guys cut thru the walls to get out. We have a 2-1/2" hose dummy that is about 6-1/2' tall and weigh's about 150lbs and pretty well indestructible...The sky's the limit when it comes to a bunch of instructors when they put there heads together....Good luck brother and be safe...
I would like a copy of those blue prints if you still have them. my email is rtvfd4@aol.com. thanks
Our local Home Depot gladly donates scraps and broken pieces of gypum.
