Women in the fire service(honest opinion)
Hola,
Just wanted to get some honest feed back about how men feel about having women serve as FF. Please be very honest! The reason for this is:
1. I have witnessed society feels women can't do this job- we are to fragile , etc.
2. People think women that work around a bunch of men must be easy or having relations with at least one of the them
3. Sexual harrassment issues arise more often
4. Some men have trouble taking orders from a woman (or vice versa)
These are just a few of the things I have seen or heard about.. Please share y you feel this way

This horse ain't dead yet.
"Drinking in the Firehouse" has twice as many replies as this thread.
So, I'll ask the question:
Should women in the fire service be allowed to drink in the firehouse?
And if you don't mind, can you tell me what kind of blue light do you have in your vehicle?

Out of all honesty ..... no...... I personally don't think a woman should be in the fire services . But here's why.I think a woman is one of the most special person on this earth and I don't think that a lady should put her life in danger. Same with Police and Army . Please don't take this the wrong way though......

As long as they do the job and can handle it I have no problem with women in the fire service.

So based on the discussion, women are "special," and being so are not allowed to be firefighters. Last I looked there is no life that is being lived that isn't special. Perhaps, we should disband the military, the fire service, the police department, and any and all other jobs on this planet where loss of life, or injury could occur.
This is not only a foolish idea, but another total showing of shovanism. Furthermore it is this theory which has caused the fire service, and all other services a total misjustice. I am proud to work alongside females in the fire service. I know in my department they are trained, and very willing to work with each and every one of the men in my fire department.
Oh and "don't get mad" when people call you out, thats what a network for firefighters where you clearly express your opinion is for. When you cross the line, your going to get grief.

You have a lot to learn. Maybe you can have your Junior Chief, Training Officer, and chief of your department sit with you and explain why able bodied human beings (without reguard to color, race, or sex) are in such demand, and what they feel about women in the fire service. Help is help, and you take all the help you can in all the capacities you are able to.
