Honestly guys its obvious that most all departments are different, while we are at it why dont we give explorers pinkradios, purple lights for pov's, and check them out of school to argue if paid or vollys are better. Ok sorry guys now I feel better. feel free to vent as well.

Hi Kenny,

After reading your post and the responses, I don't quite get the situational awareness part but figured we all need a space sometimes to release some steam...

There is not a lot to read into what you posted Kenny. What you posted was pretty random... The title had nothing to do with the body of the text. So many salvos fired... yes all departments are different (even though one of the guys who responded back to you mirrored helmet colors and he's in Maine and I'm in California).

Giving explorers pink radios I guess is a sarcastic remark as well as the purple light thing and then throwing in the paid vs volunteer argument is basically throwing a bunch of stuff out there. This is not good stuff buddy...

You are a Captain and a Training Officer and this does not set a good example for those inspiring to be firefighters, volunteer or professional or paid. Per your own words, "actualy read and react before thinking", saying anything nasty or mean, regardless of your intention to just be sarcastic is still hurtful. Bottom line Kenny is that I think we should all endeavor to treat everyone with respect and temper our emotions, specially on an international public forum where firefighters all over the world develop opinions of what an American Firefighter is all about...

Legal Interpretation as to What You Should NOT Post: " Comments, actions or things that a reasonable person would find offensive."

Whew... I feel better now, thanks for letting me vent... : )

ok mike my bad i re-read it and add the sarcasum to it(spelling) and its kinda funny now, hell i wouldnt mind leaving school early to have a field day at the station. but pink raido. how do you guy do stuff for jr. out west ?and im trying to get on a hot shot crew some time proble next summer after college.

Geez, another loaded question... First off, the good news is that they just don't make pink radios. Next thing you know folks would be asking for mauve, taupe, candy apple red and so on... that can't be allowed to occur, can it?

Depending on where you live, and where you are willing to work, you can get a job several places across the country. You can start out by checking out a cool wildland firefighter website to get you started.

ok if im ever in cali ill come down wit ha box of joe, and some patches from maine
Let me say that I'm not a big fan of giving explorers or jr firefighters turnout gear to start off with. I have no problem with having these people on the department cause everyone has to start somewhere and there is alot of things that they can do at the scene or the fire station. When it comes to being on scene and in turnout gear, they look like everyone else and there is that chance that they go inside and get hurt. The different color of the helmets are very important when you are on an emergency scene. Anyone who has been in the fire service for any length of time will know what the color means in their area. It all goes back to the chain of command..As for the lights, they should not be allowed to have lights in their pov's and the dept should have something in their s.o.g.'s that regulates what they can and can't do. Now to the school issue, They need to stay in school and that is final. What good will they be if they don't have an education?
What? No lobsters?
joe= coffee, and yeah but they cost a lot and im pritty sure that the air lines wouldnt like it
They will make that pink radio if we keep talking about it .
hey black spray paint and duck tape should cover it .
