This is a quick way to stabilize either a standard or reverse roof flap when you can't tie into another post. This technique will prevent a gust of wind from catching the roof and flipping it back onto the patient or rescuers. It's best to use a carabiner with a "KEY" style gate.

Thanks for the addition Ben,

We also use medium and heavy duty ratchet straps and you're correct they work very well, but as I always preach - Never lock your self into one technique or piece of equipment. We've had pin jobs where there was nothing to tie into except the frame/structure underneath the vehicle. Many vehicles out there have smooth/sleek body styles with fenders contoured and flush with the vehicle panels. It's always good to look at situations with simplicity - This is just another option when you need to think outside box.

It is much easier to just use a cheap, commercial ratchet strap, hook it to the fender, and ratchet it snug.
That eliminates the need to use force (swinging the halligan), it's just as quick, and it requires one less tool.
