On 7/29 at 0423 hrs TFR units responded to a reported apartment fire at 5909 S Dale Mabry Hwy. On scene at 0429 hrs fire crews reported flames coming through the roof of a two story vacant apartment building in a complex called South Bay apartments. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the flames under control, no injuries were reported.

Investigators from the Tampa Fire Marshals Office are on scene. All of the buildings in the complex are vacant. The four apartments in the building that burned are heavily damaged. A loss estimate is not available. The fire cause remains under investigation.

Dale Mabry Hwy southbound remains closed at Wisconsin.

TFR responded to this two-alarm fire with 7 fire engines, 2 ladder trucks, 3 rescue cars and a couple chief officers. An estimated 38 responders were on scene from fire stations in Port Tampa, South of Gandy, Davis Island, Downtown, Robles Park, Ybor City and Westshore. From You Tube
