Ryan Township House Trailer Fire VIDEO 3 30 2011 0001

""RYAN TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA - On March 30, 2011 at 08:30 hours the Ryan Township Fire Department, Rush Township Fire Department (Two Stations – Quakake and Hometown), Schuylkill Township Fire Department (Two Stations – Mary D and Brockton), Delano Township Fire Company and Ryan Township Ambulances were dispatched to 695 Brockton Mountain Road in Ryan Township for a house trailer fire.

Ryan Township Ambulance arrived on location and found flames and smoke coming from the house trailer. The residents were out of the home and were waiting for the fire department. The fire spread quickly and moved throughout the house trailer. The Ryan Township Fire Chief 26 and Delano Township Chief 6 arrived minutes later and found the one story trailer well involved.

Chief 26 established Incident Command and requested an additional tanker and engine from Mahanoy City to respond to the scene to assist with a tanker shuttle. Delano Engine 6-10 arrived on location and stage on the D Side of the house trailer. Delano fire fighters deployed a large and small hose lines and started a defensive attack on the fire. Hometown Tanker 25-30 staged on the roadway and supplied Engine 6-10 with tank water. Engine 25-10 and Engine 26-10 staged on the roadway and sent their crews to assist the Delano fire fighters. Brockton Engine 27-14 stage on the roadway at the south side of the trailer. The engine crew deployed a hose line to the B Side of the trailer. Mary D Engine 27-10 staged behind Engine 27-14 on the roadway. The engine crew then assists 27-14 attack crew on the hose line.

Tanker trucks from Ryan Township and Mahanoy City Good American provided additional water. Tanker 26-30 and Tanker 461 took over from Tanker 25-30 and supplied Engine 6-10 with water. Mahanoy City Citizens Engine 454 was directed to go to the near by Locust Lake State Park to set up a refill site. The Tamaqua Rescue 992 staged near the scene and provided incident support operations.

The fire was under controlled in less than an hour and all hot spots were extinguished. The fire chief believes the fire started in the middle of the trailer and does not appear to be suspicious in origin. The fire chief reported that there were no injuries of fire fighters and the house trailer was destroyed. The fire is currently under the investigation of the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
