NewsWorking.com - 19:24 hours, box 76 was transmitted for Front and Buttonwood, for a fire located at 2nd & Buttonwood Streets - a factory. Companies seen the fire from blocks away before arriving and knew they had a working fire.
Engines 3, 12, 1, 5 (safety), Ladders 1, 3 and Rescue 1 respond on the box.
Crews encounter heavy fire in the 100 x 225 one to three story factory.
The second alarm was transmitted minutes later bringing in engines 9 , 13 and tower 1.
The third alarm brought in engine 8.
Within 40 minutes, the fourth alarm was transmitted for Engine 2, Ladder 2, Berks Engine 64 and Ladder 1 and Berks County zone 4 tanker task force.
Hours later, the fire spread to the attached 3-story warehouse and threatened a row of homes on 2nd Street. Firefighters stretched 3 lines into the first dwelling and held the fire from spreading to the rest of the row.
Numerous collapses occurred, and three were caught on this video.
