Off-Duty FDNY Captain Makes Rescue at Staten Island Fire

Ken Scudero - My next door neighbor's house on fire in Huguenot, Staten Island on the morning of July 7, 2014. She had 30 cats in the house, 7 were taken to a nearby Animal Hospital as the others perished in the fire. It was a very sad day and the cause of fire is still under investigation. Explosions and a strange smell brought me outside to see what was going on and this is what I saw. Luckily my neighbor, FDNY Captain Bill Grant, was home from work today with his son who rescued our neighbor who I'm told is recovering in the hospital. The FDNY and the NYPD were quick to arrive on the scene and did an outstanding job.
