Ellenton, Florida:
Security cameras at the Blackburn Elementary school in Manatee County, Florida, caught a squirrel climbing a wall and seemingly deliberately pulling one of the school’s fire alarms, setting off an evacuation and a visit from the fire department.
Todd Henson, director of maintenance and operations for Manatee County Schools was glad it was a critter and not a student that had triggered the false alarm, otherwise the district would have had to pay a fine to the fire department.
As for the fate of the squirrel, Henson told MyFox Tampa Bay, “It’s really hard to fine a squirrel, so he got a stern lecture and was released outside.”
