As crews were mopping up from a small fire, calls came in for a house fire on Buxton St on Jan 14, 2010 shortly after 2pm.
Heavy fire in the basement extending to the 1st floor and heavy smoke greeted arriving companies. A 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing in tankers and manpower.
Due to a weakened floor, the heavy fire had to be knocked down from the exterior as crews entered the basement from the rear of the house.
Nobody was home at the fire of the fire however, sad to say, a dog perished. Prayers go out to the family.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour.
